Gnarly

A buck we named Gnarly. Not that the buck is very gnarly looking, but, compared to the other bucks in the area, he's got more knots and bumps on his horns than they do.

Thanks! Yeah, "Prongs" is a great looking buck. Hopefully I'll get some better pics of him down the road.

18A...Who has the tags? Hopefully it's a good year in that unit. It used to be one of my favorites.

now that you have a few good scouting trips, how is the water this year compaired to years past? Seen any of the same bucks as past years? Bigger Smaller? This is a follow-up to other conversations we have had in the past

Just returned from a 6 day scouting trip - had a blast and saw some giant antelope!

John: The Plateau has water, other units in Arizona are looking dry as can be! The Plateau was pretty dry, too, but the tanks were wet. New Mexico is even drier than Arizona! It was windy and hot. Although, the antelope were still big - maybe even bigger than in years past. We have seen a lot of the same bucks - some are bigger, some are smaller - not sure if there's a trend yet or not. I'll post some year to year photos when I pull them off my camera.

Anonymous: I made a quick run through 18A and it looked pretty bleak, but I know of at least one 90-incher in the unit last year - I have no idea if the buck was taken though.

Jesse: Glad to see that you found my blog! Hope you like it. I'll try to get to your boards and post more often, but if you don't see then check AZOD or MM as I'm there quite a lot.

I always think the same thing about the word getting out, but some people are still very secretive. We usually find out about it somehow, but sometimes it takes a lot longer if the hunters are trying to hide their "honey hole".
