I was going through some old photos and thought this one was amazing! Some of you may have already seen this photo, but I thought it deserved another look. And remember, there was no photo trickery.
For those of you unfamiliar with the photo - the buck on screen left is DW and was taken by Pat Brewer in 2003 on an Arizona draw tag and scores 94 B&C and 97 2/8 SCI and has a broken prong and broken horn tip. The buck on screen right is JoeBoo, the current B&C World Record (tie) taken in 2002 by David Meyer on an Arizona auction tag and scores 95 B&C and 97 SCI.

Why does JoeBoo look smaller? I know looks can be deceiving, but what about a picture from the front?
I am guessing DW had more deductions that JoeBoo and that's the biggest reason for the score. Also, it looks as though JoeBoo's prongs are much longer which also helped him score bigger.

The short answer, and what I was alluding to with the post, is that DW is bigger than JoeBoo. The picture is not deceiving in any way. That's exactly how they look when you put them side by side.
What Blake is saying is true, but the deductions only occurred because DW had two broken tips. Had DW been killed in early August by an auction tag hunter instead of late September by a draw tag hunter both horn tips would have been intact and the buck would have scored in the upper 90's easily becoming the World's Record.
Also, DW's horns weighed considerably more than JoeBoo's which is probably a truer indication of size than just score.
I'm not saying any of this to discount JoeBoo as the World's Record, but rather to recognize DW as one of the top 1 or 2 bucks of all-time.
I got to hunt both of them so I like them equally! ;)
